Chapter 1

It was working. It had to work. We had been working on the project for way too long.
A failure would have meant starting from the scratch. Moreover, the long awaited holidays we all had been waiting for, would have been scrapped.
People around me are happy. Ecstatic about their success. Not acknowledging the fact that they had merely assembled pieces of the puzzle and nothing more than that. I was just glad it was over.
We call ourselves scientists, the brain of the world. We were the best of the best and yet we could barely comprehend the technology that came into our world about a century ago.
The whole notion of "creatures from the space" had been changed for the better of the human kind. Or so it seemed to everyone. They were our "friends".
It somehow seemed to me as if we were being used by our "friends" for their purpose. Unknowingly, we were falling in to the trap. When i had voiced my doubts , i was simply put down. Their trust in them was way too strong after all they had helped us earthlings progress a lot faster in every field.
No one wanted to believe a few anomalies were enough to mistrust them.
The Truth.
What was the truth? It was like a lamp with the light of truth flickering inside. Dancing as if mocking the humans for being so vulnerable. Yet people could see only brightness and not the shadow that accompanied it. If only i could scream and make them understand what really was going on. But the whole idea was absurd. I could scream but only to deaf ears.
I knew i had to get enough proof to support myself, to support my idea and save us all.
The journey was about to start and i had dared to be alone in my quest to salvage the might.
With the evening gathering the necessary signs of weathered reality i decided to retire myself to quarters and get much needed rest, for what lay ahead was uncertainty.
